How did quarantine lead me to (finally) offer free coaching sessions?

How quarantine presented me with an opportunity

Soon after the quarantine/lockdown started I’ve found myself, like many others, physically isolated from all the places and people that I used to interact with on a daily basis.

I consider myself lucky because I was able to continue working from home. But I still had time in the evening and weekend, and after calling friends and family and after watching too much Netflix I decided to put some of my skills to use help people initially with sports and fitness coaching, then meditation coaching and finally “life” coaching.

I knew there must be more people like me out there that have suddenly found themselves isolated, their routines ruined and turned upside down… Being in their underwear in their room until they had an online meeting. (Hey I’m not complaining).

And I also knew that some people will want to continue developing themselves and connect with other likeminded individuals.

A new community

So in order to test this idea is valid I’ve decided to start a community from SCRATCH, with complete strangers from the internet, without relying on any of the members from my website or my social media accounts.

I went on the popular video game streaming platform known as and instead of streaming games, I would go live with…

  • Free workouts and fitness instructions — based on the years of experience as a CrossFit coach at Horsens CrossFit and VIA University College sports club
  • Free meditation sessions based on the Wim Hof Method that I’ve practiced for many years on and off. And finally but probably most impactful…
  • Free 1 on 1 coaching sessions based on experience with using Process Consultation techniques to coach, and also more broadly concepts from philosophy (such as the Socratic method), concepts on happiness and emotional intelligence, various mental health ideas, and psychological principles (from Carl Jung among others).

All these years of studying these concepts and ideas for my own pleasure and personal growth, and now it can all be put to good use.

I don’t pretend to be a medical doctor or psychiatrist and I make this clear to all those I have coaching sessions with. But I do prepare for our coaching sessions carefully and I listen to their problems with patience, respect, and without judging. If the coachee is ready for it, I help them uncover solutions by asking different types of questions (primarily in accordance with Process Consultation academic literature).

If you’re a coach and would like to offer any sort of free coaching — such as “life” coaching, sports, meditation, music, writing, etc. — to the community, I am sure our members will be very thankful.

Where we hang out

We’ve all gathered on the communication platform called “Discord” and there we have the flexibility to chat freely and engage when, how, and as much as we like. There are both text channels and voice channels where we are active throughout the week.

I feel like we are at a point where we are ready to welcome new members with open arms (at least for a short period of time to see how the dynamic changes). I’ll drop a link below in case you’re interested.

Cheers and thanks for dropping by,

Leo 🙂

P.S. We are planning to do a group coaching session this Saturday and they’re always interesting. Feel free to join us.
