Poverty isn’t a lack of character; it’s a lack of cash (via TED)

Hi all!

First of all please see this video:

(Really, first you need to see this impressive video which will challenge your belief that poor people just “don’t work hard enough”, otherwise the rest of the article won’t make sense)

This was my comment on the video:

“Just like you, I was deeply impressed by this TED talk so I decided to see if I can help. I was also raised in a poor family, and have been surviving for most of my life. I’ve recently graduated, working hard and saving up money. My point is I relate to what he says and I’m not a millionaire now. However, if I want to make basic income a reality for myself or for my kids, I know I need to contribute somehow.

Search and you shall find! I decided to help “GiveDirectly” with their study on basic income and help some people that really need it too. So if you want to see this happen too, make sure you do something about it!”

At the time I am writing this they raised 24.3 M and they need just 5.7 M more to start the project.

I took out my calculator and based on the 0.75 USD they want to give to those people per day, the amount they are raising adds up. 😉

I am hoping that at least one person in my little community, (which is basically just you 😀 ) will help advance this goal! Let’s make a difference! 🙂

We should always remember: The initiatives that we support, prosper. The ones which we don’t, die. (as a general rule of thumb)

P.S. I don’t work for GiveDirectly and I’m not associated with them in any way. I just believe in the science, humanity and nobility of this goal.
